Which should you own in your portfolio: Silver or Gold?
The answer is: Both!
Diversification is a way to mitigate your risk and decrease volatility. Silver tends to be more volatile, so people who do not have a stomach for it should allocate more of their accumulation of ounces to gold. Those with a longer term horizon in mind should be over weighted in silver.
Key Facts (at the time of writing):
- Silver to Gold Ratio is 1:55
- Watch for the global GDP growth to help gage the industrial demand. Here you could see the ratio narrow pretty rapidly.
- The headline US CPI for previous month was slightly higher than expected (actual +0.7% vs. forecast +0.5%), with Core CPI meeting the consensus forecast of +0.2%. This month’s US Empire Manufacturing came in slightly weaker than consensus, slipping to 9.24 versus forecast of 10.00.
